FAQ

Questions about this tool

Who has to pay advance tax?

Anyone whose tax for the year, after TDS and TCS, is ₹10,000 or more. That covers salaried people with other income, business owners, professionals, companies and firms. Senior citizens with no business income are exempt.

What are the advance tax due dates for FY 2026-27?

15 June 2026 (15% of the tax), 15 September 2026 (45%), 15 December 2026 (75%) and 15 March 2027 (100%). The percentages are cumulative, so each date asks for the total paid so far.

How does the new regime work in this calculator?

Slabs: nil up to ₹4 lakh, then 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% in steps of ₹4 lakh, with 30% above ₹24 lakh. A rebate under section 87A makes income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free, and just above that the tax is capped at the income over ₹12 lakh. The old regime uses the earlier slabs and a ₹12,500 rebate up to ₹5 lakh.

What rates apply to companies and firms?

Domestic companies pay 22% (or 25% under the older option) and firms and LLPs pay 30%, plus surcharge and 4% cess. The tool applies the surcharge slab for your income but not the marginal relief near the slab limits.

I am taxed on presumptive income. What changes?

Under sections 44AD and 44ADA you pay the whole advance tax in one instalment by 15 March, so the tool shows nothing due earlier when you tick that box.

Does it include interest for paying late or short?

No. Interest under sections 234B and 234C is not calculated. If you have missed an instalment, pay what is still due and check the interest with your chartered accountant.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type leaves it.
