Questions about this tool

Which suppliers does Section 43B(h) cover?

Micro and small enterprises registered on Udyam as manufacturers or service providers. It does not cover medium enterprises, traders (wholesale and retail traders registered on Udyam only for priority-sector lending) or suppliers who are not registered. Check the category on the supplier's Udyam certificate.

From which date are the 15 or 45 days counted?

From the day of acceptance: the day the goods are delivered or the services rendered. If you object in writing within 15 days, it runs from the day the objection is resolved; with no objection, the delivery day is the deemed day of acceptance. Leave the acceptance date blank to use the invoice date.

Our agreement allows 60 or 90 days. Does that count?

No. The MSMED Act caps the agreed period at 45 days, so for 43B(h) a payment is late after day 45 even if the contract says 60 or 90. The tracker caps it for you.

Does an invoice paid late in the same year lose its deduction?

No. Section 43B(h) moves the deduction to the year of payment; when that is the same financial year, the deduction is unaffected. Interest under Section 16 is still owed to the supplier.

How is the interest worked out?

Compound interest with monthly rests at three times the Bank Rate notified by the RBI, from the due date to the date of payment (or to the date you check, for unpaid invoices). With the Bank Rate at 5.75%, that is 17.25% a year. Change the rate in Settings if the RBI revises it.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Your file is read and checked in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Is this tax advice?

No. The tracker applies the rules to the data you enter. Disputed invoices, advances, part-payments and changes in a supplier's category need your tax adviser's judgement.
