How much is idle cash costing you?

Most companies keep more in current accounts than they need day to day. Enter your balances by bank and see what the surplus could earn somewhere else.

Your balances

For each bank, enter the average balance you hold in current and operating accounts, and the interest rate it earns today (often 0%).

%

The share of each balance you keep for day-to-day payments.

% a year

An example, not an offer: use the rate you can actually get on an FD, sweep or liquid fund.

Extra you could earn

₹0 a year

About ₹0 a month, on ₹0 of your ₹0. Your balances earn 0.0% on average today.

Add a bank balance to see the result.

Open shows every bank's balance in one place, so idle cash is easy to spot and move.

An estimate, not investment advice. Returns, lock-ins and liquidity differ by product and bank; check them before moving any money. Everything is calculated in your browser.

FAQ

Questions about this tool

How is the extra income calculated?

For each bank: average balance × (1 − the share you keep available) × (the rate you could earn − the rate you earn today). A bank already earning more than your alternative rate adds nothing. Overdrafts and empty rows are ignored.

Why keep some cash available?

Payroll, vendors and taxes need money on the day. The tool lets you decide how much of each balance stays untouched; the default of 30% is only a starting point.

Where does the 6.5% come from?

It is an example, not an offer or a forecast. Replace it with the rate you can actually get on an FD, a sweep facility or a liquid fund, after any tax.

Is this investment advice?

No. It is a simple estimate. Returns, lock-ins, penalties and liquidity differ by product and bank, so check the terms before moving money.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
