FAQ

Questions about this tool

What is gross burn and net burn?

Gross burn is everything you spend in a month. Net burn is what you spend minus what you receive. If receipts are at least as large as spend, you are cash positive.

How is runway calculated?

Runway in months = cash in the bank ÷ net burn per month. Rs 12,00,000 with a net burn of Rs 3,00,000 a month gives four months.

Which cash should I use?

The total across all your bank accounts. Seeing every balance together is the hardest part when you bank with several banks.

Is runway a forecast?

No. It assumes spend and receipts stay as entered. Revisit it every month, and when something big changes, such as a hire, a large payment or a late customer.
